Nutrition - Back to the Start
We'll spare you the history lesson and get to the facts about what our bodies are meant to eat, and how to get started.
At CrossFit Collective, we strive to fuel our bodies with as natural and pure resources as possible. This includes, but is not limited to, meat, vegetables, nuts, seeds, and fruit. Nothing ground breaking, right?
We understand that it is difficult to go against the undercurrent of culteral eating habits. We also see where our culture is headed because of the choices we are individually making with our diets. Just look around! We focus on the very best for our bodies externally and internally, and hold each other accountable in the process.
Here are the best products to eat:
Eat all the lean meat you want...Any lean beef, any lean pork, chicken/turkey breast, eggs, any fish, and seafood. Fresh or frozen.
Eat all the veggies you want...Any fresh or frozen veggies, except for potatoes, corn, peas, and beans.
Eat some nuts and seeds...A few portions a day of these great fat sources is fantastic. Choose raw/lightly roasted and unsalted. Stay away from Peanuts.
Eat some other healty fats...If you have alergy or don't like nuts and seeds, include avacados, olive oil, flaxseed oil, coconut oil, other non manipulated oils.
Eat some fruit...Choose whole fresh fruit. Avoid lots of juice, and keep fruit to 1-2 servings per day.
There is much out in our grocery stores to avoid. Sometimes we need to take small steps to change not only how we eat, but how we think of eating. As you start to transition your nutrition with the above mentioned foods, a simple and strong way to start is to simply avoid these products:
Sugar or artificial sugar...NOPE, NONE OF THEM! You cannot completely eliminate this, but any effort to cut out as much as possible will show immediate improvements to your health and performances.
Junk food...The name says it all! Cakes, cookies, candy, or all the other things that are highly processed, loaded with sugar, and spike insulin production. There are many alternatives for SNACKS, take heart!
Grains...This is hard to handle, I know. Wheat, corn, rice, pasta, bread, oatmeal, cereals all need to be extremely limited or cut out for maximal intestinal health (read: absorbtion of nutrients).
Legumes...anything that says "bean". This includes, soy and peanuts.
Dairy...This ought to be extremely limited or avoided all together. There are benefits for weight gaining purposes, and general source vitamins. However, keep this under control.
