    Cory Grimm says...

When I started at CFC, Jeremiah ran me through the baseline workout.  8 minutes of rowing, squatting and some other bodyweight movements that are designed to find a good starting point for a new crossfitter.  Bodyweight for me was more than enough, as I was weighing in at close to 260 lbs.  I wasn’t always that big, but after I hurt my knee I took recovery as permission to be lazy. This workout was a wakeup call for me in a big way.

By the time 8 minutes was up, I was less than halfway done with the workout and completely gassed.  I was so embarrassed that I didn’t want to be seen by another human being for the rest of the night - but Jeremiah said that if I came back, he could change things.  The man tells the truth.

Today is a good day.  It’s been about 3 months since I started going to Crossfit Collective and following the advice of Jeremiah and his team.  The results have been pretty astounding.  I have added hundreds of pounds to my major lifts like squats and deadlifts, and I've been throwing around tractor tires with relative ease.  Crossfit has challenged me to hoist 145 lb cement balls onto my shoulders, overhead press kegs of water and completely transform my body.  As I said, today is a good day because I weighed in at just under 220 lbs.

40 lbs in 3 months?  Seems shady, but Jeremiah showed me how to eat properly and take care of myself, and odds are I’ve added years to my life by becoming part of the Crossfit family.  Want to know the best part?  It’s a lot of fun to throw around kegs, tires and chains.  You’ll find youself eyeballing things around your office and thinking, “I wonder if I could life that over my head…”

The changes have been so dramatic that my wife even started going with me.  At first the weights were indimidating to her, but now you'll hear her talking about flipping tires and setting new personal records.  It’s not all sunshine and roses though.  I did have to buy a new belt and a bunch of new pants because the old ones were just too big. You’ve been warned!

    Tami says...

“Athletes” run half marathons and race in 62-mile bike rides. But now I call these challenging events my own personal accomplishments!
And just seven months after experiencing a very painful lower back injury! How did I do this? Trying to do to much work and working out without recovery.
A back injury? The MRI revealed two conditions. I have lumbar stenosis, a narrowing of the spine that irritates spinal nerves. I also have spondylolisthesis or spine slippage, when a vertebra slips forward onto the vertebra below. However, the variety of CrossFit workouts has greatly improved my core strength and back muscles. I am much less vulnerable to these two weaknesses.
CrossFit clearly improves my overall quality of life. More stamina means more energy for the day’s activities. More strength means lifting “lighter” Christmas storage bins. Better flexibility means easier ceiling painting. Better agility means catching falling items before they break. Better accuracy means throwing banana peels to the “bull’s eye” of the compost heap. I can throw toddlers into the air with ease and put a bigger smile on my husband’s face. (I’m still working on leaping a 20” box with a single bound).
CrossFit is a family that celebrates each individual’s progress. We applaud PRs and other goals like doing a “real” pull-up. We encourage going beyond our comfort zones to do tractor-tire flips and headstands. We build the confidence and desire to achieve new goals like handstands and sprint triathlons.
Not bad for a 53-year-old woman – mother of four – and grandmother of three.

    Lynn says...

When I was a teenager, I was told I had Scoliosis. When I was 25, I was told I had Shermans Kiphosis. I was also told I had osteopenia, the step before osteoporosis.  About a little over a year before I came to CrossFit Collective I was told I had fibromyalgia. I was on pain meds, which I didn't take very often because I hated taking them, and just dealt with the pain as best I could. I was mostly in bed when I wasn't working. I heard about CrossFit, and I came to check it out. It's been over a year and I haven't looked back! I no longer have the fibromyalgia pain...just sore muscles, which is way better! My back has gotten so much stronger and does not bother me nearly as much. The arthritis only bothers me in damp cold weather. My bone density has gone up almost a full point. The Collective has great trainers, and friends who care and are a wonderful part of my life...I wouldn't want to go any where else or do any other kind of work out. This is what CrossFit means to me!

    Bad Andy says...

I have only experienced a small dose of the Collective over the past year but the results gained have far out paced my time spent in the box.   Being a elite cyclist for over 11 years I have experienced many different forms of training.  I feel the training I have endured at the Collective to be some of the best. The workouts not only challenged me physically but also mentally.  I have gained strength, flexibility, endurance, and knowledge to support my athletic endeavors.  The CrossFit Collective has helped me reach a new level in cycling and in overall fitness.  I would highly recommend the CrossFit Collective to anyone and everyone.

    Kimberly says...

I started crossfitting off and on about a year and 1/2 ago, when my husband, Jeremiah, decided to get his CrossFit certification and later his affiliate. I ran cross-country and track all throughout middle school, high school and college and then got into triathlons a few years ago. The only way I knew how to train for anything was to practice that specific sport for hours on end.

When Jeremiah told me that I could get into great physical shape by working out 30 minutes a day (max), and without actually running or biking, I secretly thought he was a bit crazy. After having our first child, I didn't think I would ever get back to racing in triathlons or being competitive in anything, really. I had settled for going out for a jog (with the stroller) every now and then, and just enjoyed being as active as I could. I decided to try a crossfit "WOD" and it obliterated me in 10 minutes. But, I decided to stick with it, because 20-30 minutes fit my now very busy schedule a lot better than 2 hour bike rides.

Just when I was about to sign up for another triathlon, I became pregnant with our second child. However, I continued to come to crossfit 2-3 times per week until I couldn't tie my shoes anymore. I noticed that my back held up so much better throughout this pregnancy, and I seemed to have more energy too.

Now, our youngest son is 10 months old, I'm crossfitting about 5 times/week and am signed up for another triathlon! I can carry my 2 boys up and down the stairs with no problem, hoist 5 gallon water jugs from the car and on to the cooler, weed the garden, and play for hours with my energetic boys. CrossFit has increased my confidence on so many levels. I feel stronger, healthier, and ready to face any challenge that pops up in my day! Admitting that my husband was right is the only negative thing I have to say about it:)
